EU Regional School 2008 Trimester II

Computational Aerodynamics Advanced algorithms and modeling techniques with applications from transonic to hypersonic flow

The EU Regional School is open to graduate students from German, Belgian and Dutch Universities. The courses take place every Monday over an 8-week period and are divided in a morning lecture and an afternoon lecture. Every participant receives an EU Regional School Certificate. The courses are free of charge.

Lectures take place on Monday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in AICES, seminar room, Pauwelsstr. 12.

Georg May, Ph.D.
AICES Junior Research Group Leader, RWTH Aachen University

Georg May, Ph.D. obtained his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Stanford University, CA. Thereafter he was a Research Associate at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Stanford University, before joining AICES in 2007.

Dr. Birgit Reinartz
AICES Junior Research Group Leader, RWTH Aachen University

Dr. Reinartz obtained her doctorate in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering in 2001 at the RWTH Aachen University. Thereafter she was a junior scientist at the German Aerospace Center and a visiting scientist at the University of New South Wales, Australia. Since 2005, she is a research fellow and member of the Research Training Group (GRK 1095) on scramjet technology in Aachen.

Dr. Alexander Boucke
AICES Visiting Researcher, RWTH Aachen University

Dr. Boucke obtained his doctorate in numerical mathematics at the RWTH Aachen University 2003 for the research of non-stationary aeroelastic coupling. Currently he is research associate at the Department of Mechanics

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Martin Bücker
AICES Senior Scientific Staff, RWTH Aachen University

Dr. Martin Bücker obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1997 at RWTH Aachen University. From 1993 to 1998 he worked for the Central Institute for Applied Mathematics, Research Center Jülich. In 1998, he returned to RWTH Aachen University, where he received his habilitation in computer science in 2003. His current areas of research include high-performance computing, numerical linear algebra, and automatic differentiation

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Siegfried Müller
AICES Senior Scientific Staff, RWTH Aachen University

Dr. Mueller obtained his doctorate in Mathematics in 1993 at the RWTH Aachen. He has been involved in numerous interdisciplinary projects related to computational fluid dynamics.Since 2001 he is lecturer at the RWTH Aachen
