EU Regional School 2008 Trimester III

Material Science

The EU Regional School is open to graduate students from German, Belgian and Dutch Universities. The courses take place every Monday over an 8-week period and are divided in a morning lecture and an afternoon lecture. Every participant receives an EU Regional School Certificate. The courses are free of charge.

Lectures take place on Monday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in AICES, seminar room, Pauwelsstr. 12.

If you need any organisational help, please contact Annette de Haes from the AICES-Service Team:

To apply for the Trimester III, send an email with your CV and your research experience to:
dehaes@aices.rwth-aachen.de

Deadline is July 25, 2008

Because there is a limited number of seats, you will get an answer about your participation as soon as possible.

Speakers

Dr.-Ing. Philip Eisenlohr
Junior Research Group Leader, AICES
Max Planck Institute for Iron Research, Düsseldorf

Dr. Philip Eisenlohr obtained his doctorate in materials science and engineering in 2004 at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. He worked there from 1999 to 2006 as Research and Teaching Assistant. Since 2006 he builds up a research group on Computational Mechanics of Polycrystals at Max Planck Institute for Iron Research, Düsseldorf in cooperation with Fraunhofer Institut for Mechanics of Materials, Freiburg. His current areas of research include microstructurally-based models and computational frameworks of crystal plasticity.

Dr.-Ing. Joao L. Rezende
Junior Research Group Leader, AICES
Computational Materials Engineering, RWTH Aachen University

Dr. Joao L. Rezende obtained his doctorate degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science at the Foundry Institute, RWTH Aachen in 1999. Afterwards getting his doctorate degree, he worked for seven years in the materials industry, involved mainly in R&D activities. Since 2006 he is a leader of the group dedicated to microstructure simulation at CME/CCES. He joined AICES in 2007.
