By means of the JARA BRAIN Center: Translational Neuroscience (JARA-BC), the Forschungszentrum Jülich, the RWTH and the University Hospital RWTH Aachen will reorganise and focus their expertise in an internationally visible translational competence centre for neurosciences. The JARA-BC will coordinate strong joint neuroscientific research with the highest methodological competence from the biological foundations to the latest methodological and interdisciplinary approaches to experimental clinical studies in mental and neurological diseases at the participating sites. In addition, innovative technologies based on neuroscientific findings are developed.

In order to strengthen the strategic cooperation of all surrounding universities and the Forschungszentrum Jülich, the JARA-BC is designed from the beginning in such a way that it involves professors from other universities who bear responsibility in Jülich. Beyond the structural interconnection between the RWTH and the Forschungszentrum Jülich, it is thus conceived as an open project platform and invites national and international neuroscientists, clinicians and other scientists to participate in the scientific programs.
