Two Awards for AVT at the AIChE Annual Meeting 2024
The Chair of Process Systems Engineering (AVT.SVT) at RWTH Aachen University, led by Prof. Mitsos, received two prestigious awards at this year’s Annual Meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
The Computing and Systems Technology Division (CAST) presented the following awards:
• David Smith Award: Artur Schweidtmann, former PhD student, was honored for the best publication by a graduate. His award-winning work is titled: Deterministic Global Optimization with Gaussian Processes Embedded.
• CAST Director Award: Jan Rittig, PhD student at AVT, received the award for the best presentation by a graduate. His topic was: Thermodynamics-Consistent Graph Neural Networks and Gibbs–Duhem-Informed Neural Networks for Binary Activity Coefficient Prediction. Jan will receive his plaque at the 2025 AIChE Annual Meeting in Boston.
These achievements highlight the outstanding research contributions of AVT in the fields of process systems engineering and artificial intelligence. For more information, please visit the AVT website.
