Successful participation in the Mechanical Engineering Day 2025
Our contribution attracted a lot of attention: an interactive simulation on a huge display of the Chair of Model-Based Development in Computational Engineering (MBD). Visitors were able to develop an optimal virtual irrigation system in a playful application - with the aim of irrigating different fields efficiently and in a resource-saving manner. The challenge was to supply all plants with water as evenly as possible by cleverly controlling water flows and valves.
The highlight: the simulation reacted in real time to the users' inputs, visualized the effects of their decisions directly and thus conveyed complex technical relationships in an understandable and entertaining way.
The interest was overwhelming - our station quickly became the crowd-puller of the day. Young visitors in particular showed great interest and asked many clever questions about sustainability, technology and simulation.
We would like to thank the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for the excellent organization and are already looking forward to next year!
