Europe’s AI Booster: JUPITER AI Factory Brings Exascale Power to Business and Science

The JUPITER AI Factory in Jülich is becoming a central pillar of Europe’s AI infrastructure, offering start-ups, SMEs, and industry access to Europe’s first Exascale-class supercomputer. The JUPITER supercomputer, now operational at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, enables the rapid development, optimisation, and scaling of AI applications. A specialised inference module, JARVIS, accelerates access to AI models via the cloud and supports advanced inference techniques.
As the first European AI Factory of its kind, the focus is on application fields such as healthcare, energy, climate change, education, and the public sector.
Funding and Partnerships
The project is supported with approximately 55 million euros from the European Supercomputing Initiative EuroHPC, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and the science ministries of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. Leading German AI institutions, including the Jülich Supercomputing Centre and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence at RWTH Aachen University, are key partners.
The JUPITER AI Factory is part of the European Commission’s “AI Innovation Package” and collaborates closely with other European AI Factories such as BSC AIF (Spain), IT4LIA (Italy), and GENCI (France).
