Scientists involved in the Borexino Collaboration have for the first time proven the existence of the CNO fusion cycle in nature. They detected solar neutrinos originating in this process, subordinate in our sun. Prof. Livia Ludhova, member of JARA-FAME, is one of the scientific coordinators of the Borexino collaboration.
On November 13th, 2020 the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) announced that this year’s Olgierd Cecil Zienkiewicz young-investigator award will be awarded to Prof. Stefanie Elgeti.
The JARA-ENERGY Talks took place for the fifth time on 04 November 2020. Taking account of the global situation, the event was organized in an online format for the first time. Around 140 participants followed the presentations of Prof. Andreas Löschel, University of Münster and Chairman of the Expert Commission "Energy of the Future" of the German Federal Government, who gave a review of the energy transition.
Together with the TU Darmstadt, RWTH Aachen is included in a alliance that creates better conditions for all scientists at German universities. Under the new funding concept, the federal and state governments will no longer only cover investment costs, but also operating and personnel costs. For this purpose, 62.5 million euros will be available annually for the entire NHR alliance.
After submitting a proposal together with the TU Darmstadt, the RWTH will be accepted into the consortium, which creates optimized computing conditions for all scientists at German universities. The long standing cooperation between RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich in the JARA Center for Simulation and Data Science continues to play an important role.
