After a successful start in fall 2019, the project "Incubator Sustainable Electrochemical Value Chains" (iNEW) is now entering its second phase. The aim of the project is to realize the industrial use of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. The scientific "head" of iNEW is JARA-ENERGY member Prof. Rüdiger A. Eichel.
The Presidium of the Leopoldina - National Academy of Sciences has elected Prof. Dr. med. Dr. rer. pol. Svenja Caspers (JARA-BRAIN) as a member of the Leopoldina. Prof. Caspers will be assigned to Class III Medicine with the subject section "Anatomy and Anthropology".
On the occasion of the RWTH Aachen's anniversary, an exhibition telling the history of the university opens at the Centre Charlemagne on October 30. He died this week after a serious illness at the age of 60. Harald Bolt had been a member of the Board of Directors since 2008 and led the scientific business area, which includes energy and climate research.
A new early-warning system developed at at the institute of Prof. Holger Schüttrumpf (JARA-ENERGY) at RWTH Aachen University can determine the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall and predict the expected damage right down to the house number. People affected could thus be alerted with pinpoint accuracy.
