Studierendenpreis JARA-ENERGY
The transition to sustainable energy systems is one of the key challenges of our time. Innovative research ideas and dedicated young researchers play a crucial role in this effort. Against this backdrop, the “JARA-ENERGY Student Award” recognizes outstanding master’s theses that demonstrate new approaches, scientific excellence, and societal relevance.
Eligible to participate are master’s students from universities collaborating with JARA-ENERGY whose theses were completed during the winter semester 2025/26 or the current summer semester 2026. Master’s theses may be submitted in fields such as battery technologies, negative CO₂ emission technologies, regional and urban energy systems, hydrogen, and the circular carbon economy. The thesis may be written in German or English.

The transition to sustainable energy systems is one of the key challenges of our time. Innovative research ideas and dedicated early-career researchers play a crucial role in this effort. Against this backdrop, the “JARA-ENERGY PhD student Award” recognizes outstanding doctoral theses in the field of energy, with a focus on innovation, scientific excellence, and societal relevance.
Eligible to apply are doctoral candidates from JARA-ENERGY-associated universities whose primary supervisor is a member of JARA-ENERGY. The doctoral thesis must have been completed between the summer semester of 2025 and the current summer semester of 2026 (the date of the defense is decisive). The doctoral thesis may be submitted in German or English on topics such as batteries of the future, negative CO₂ emission technologies, regional and urban energy systems, hydrogen, or the circular carbon economy.
