Together with strong partners such as Forschungszentrum Jülich within the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA), RWTH stands for internationally visible cutting-edge research and close collaboration between science, industry, and society.

Prof. Thomas Lippert, Director of the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) at Forschungszentrum Jülich and a member of the JARA-CSD Directorate, has been named to the international trade magazine HPCwire’s “People to Watch 2026” list. The distinction recognizes individuals who are shaping the future of high-performance computing worldwide. Under Lippert’s leadership, JSC developed JUPITER, Europe’s first exascale supercomputer – a major milestone for powerful AI applications and Europe’s digital sovereignty.
