Fulbright scholar to visit PGI

The Quantum Theory of Materials division at the Peter Grünberg Institute awaits the arrival of a guest scientist from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA: Prof. Walter Lambrecht will spend a research sabbatical in Prof. Stefan Blügel’s group from 23 July until the end of December.

JARA Scientist Receives ERC Starting Grant

JARA-FIT scientist Prof. Dr. Paul Kögerler will receive an ERC Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC). The chemist will be funded with about € 1.5 million over the next five years for his research on materials for the computers of tomorrow.

Unique Electron Microscope Inaugurated

A unique electron microscope was inaugurated at the Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C) on the campus of Forschungszentrum Jülich today. The device referred to as PICO has a record resolution of fifty billionths of a millimetre. It will allow users from science and industry to study atomic structures with the highest precision possible and to achieve progress in areas such as energy research and information technology.

"More than Moore": New Materials for More Efficient Chips

Jülich scientists will be joining forces with 15 European partners to lay the foundations for the oxide-based nanoelectronics of the future in the EU project "Interfacing Oxides" (IFOX). The European Union is funding IFOX with € 11.3 million over four years. JARA-scientists participate too.
