Two winners of this year's RWE Future Prize are JARA-ENERGY graduates. The RWE Group awarded the prizes for outstanding degree dissertations and PhD theses in keeping with the theme “impetus for the energy world of tomorrow”.

In the category for PhD theses, Dr. John Kettler won first prize in the face of competition from more than 100 candidates. He was honoured for his ground-breaking work on the non-destructive characterization of radioactive waste at the Jülich Institute of Energy and Climate Research. In addition, Hendrik Natemeyer from RWTH Aachen University's Institute for High-Voltage Technology took second place for his degree dissertation on the European transmission grid.

Around 160 guests attended the second JARA-FORUM “Prospects for the Future” at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin on 16 October.
