“Modeling and Simulation with emphasis on HPC and Grid Computing”

The Umbrella Cooperation, founded in 1983, is a collaboration between three research organizations: Technion Haifa, Forschungszentrum Jülich and RWTH Aachen University. The Umbrella Cooperation aims at fostering the exchange of early career scientists and knowledge as well as the cooperation between the three organizations in research projects and other activities.

The 25th symposium within the Umbrella Cooperation will be devoted to “Modeling and Simulation with emphasis on HPC and Grid Computing”.

Due to this year’s focus on computing, specifically high performance computing, JARA-HPC took over the task to organize the scientific part of the event.

Date: Sunday, June 26, 2011 – Wednesday, June 29, 2011

Venue:  RWTH Aachen University, Germany

Registration deadline
(for participation only): Thursday, 9 June, 2011

Target group:

Researchers from the three Umbrella Institutions wanting to exchange ideas, strengthen existing collaborations or establish new scientific contacts in the framework of the Umbrella Cooperation – from early career scientists and PostDocs in the process of setting up their research groups and looking for opportunities to widen their international cooperation network (or, indeed, getting it started) to experienced researchers with established partnerships. Accompanying PhD students are also welcome.

Program Structure:

In the framework of this year’s topic “Modeling and Simulation with emphasis on HPC and Grid Computing” we defined the following focus points:

1) Basic Simulation Techniques

2) Simulation in Engineering Sciences

3) Simulation in Medicine, Chemistry and Physics

Participants are welcome to present their research activities and collaboration interests in these fields and discuss perspectives for future cooperation of mutual interest. Small project group sessions provide the opportunity to draft road maps and identify work packages and funding strategies to be pursued for the intended cooperation projects.

Registration:

In order to balance the mutual interests and expectations interested researchers are kindly requested to describe their current field of work using the registration form (registration deadline expired).
